A new platform is in development for 2020. This new programme will offer an interactive platform with information on learning and working in Europe. Europass is currently a portfolio of 5 documents that helps individuals take advantage of work and study opportunities across Europe and beyond. It is popular with over 100 million Europass CV’s generated since 2005, but in need of updating and in 2017 the European Commission adopted a proposal to modernize the platform.
The new system will be an online platform usable by anyone needing information on learning and working across the EU. It will adapt to all national systems and offer web-based tools and information to support individuals managing their career and learning.

What is Europass?

Europass is a European Union initiative to increase the mobility of workers and learners throughout Europe through the development and promotion of a series of Europass documents and tools which help make skills and qualifications clearly and easily understood. 30 European countries are currently participating in the Europass initiative. In practice, this programme supports:

Jobseekers

Complete your CV online and upload it to recruitment websites, such as EURES; Monster; CV-Library and XING.

Students planning internships and study abroad

• Build on your portfolio using resources such as Euroguidance – European portal to guidance
• Or Ploteus to find a course of study and record the experience in the Europass Mobility.

Validate academic and career orientation in association with an Erasmus+ programme
• Record your work or training experience abroad using Europass Mobility.

Employers by streamlining the selection of personnel and the comparison of qualifications
• Information in the CV is in a standardised format, which makes it easier for employers to compare applicants.
• Add your NARIC comparability statement to your portfolio and make it easier for employers to recognise your qualifications on the EQF.

Higher Education Institutions – strengthens the internationalisation of third level institutions
• The Diploma Supplement increases the transparency of qualifications and makes Higher Education qualifications easier to understand in an international context by providing additional information in both the national and international context that
is relevant to the labour market.
