Irish Management Institute (IMI)

Sandyford Road, Dublin, Republic of Ireland

IMI is a membership organisation, comprising more than 240 corporate members.  IMI members reflect a spectrum of Irish industry, from our smallest micro-organisations to the world’s largest multinationals.  IMI’s work brings it into contact with organisations from just about every walk of life, facing every kind of management challenge – from micro organisations to the world’s largest multinational companies.

IMI has provided management training courses at its Sandyford Campus for over thirty years.  Thousands of senior executives attend developmental programmes at IMI annually, ranging from NFQ level 9 Masters and Diploma qualifications to one and two day master classes. IMI also acts as a “business partner” for organisations that are looking to align comprehensive learning and development strategies to support the execution of business growth strategies. Common to all IMI programmes is the translation of academic best practice to real-world solutions for practising managers.

IMI is based on the 12 acre “National Management Campus”, which is situated in Sandyford, County Dublin. IMI’s facility comprises of thirteen bespoke classrooms, three boardrooms, fifteen additional meeting rooms, a restaurant with seating for up to three hundred people, a library and two hundred and fifty parking spaces.  The campus also includes a residential block incorporating fifty three-star bedrooms, an award winning conference centre with capacity for up to three hundred and seventy delegates, and a fitness suite.

The National Management Campus has hosted heads of state, European Commissioners, Taoisigh, leading international business speakers and managers from across Ireland, Europe, the US and Africa.

IMI was traditionally owned by its corporate members and governed by a Council elected by its members. In October 2016, following a six year strategic alliance, IMI’s members unanimously approved a merger with University College Cork (UCC).  This presented a momentous decision to determine the long term direction of IMI. On this basis ownership of IMI has transferred to UCC.

The merger equips IMI to embrace the future with energy, ambition and broader horizons. Going forward, IMI will remain a commercially managed, national institute with a unique membership ethos that leads the Irish executive education market. IMI will continue to be based at the National Management Campus in Sandyford, will retain its distinctive brand identity and its practically-focused ethos. UCC’s expertise, relationships and global reach will be combined with IMI’s global ranking, reputation for excellence, unparalleled business community network and scalable business model to deliver distinctive, world class executive education.
