The Department of Finance will host a virtual seminar on International Taxation at 14:00 on Wednesday 21st April.

The seminar will elicit views of international stakeholders as well as airing issues of concern for Ireland.

2021 will be a critical year for International Tax as we seek agreement at the OECD on addressing the tax challenges of digitalisation.

Ireland has seen the benefits of international cooperation and is committed to achieving a sustainable, robust and growth-friendly agreement by the 139 members of the OECD Inclusive Framework. This agreement must be one that meets the needs of all countries, large and small, developed and developing. It is vital that certainty is provided to countries and business alike in achieving a balanced and equitable compromise, which must also consider these discussions in the context of the broader challenges we will be facing as we emerge from the pandemic.

The seminar will focus on the international discussions, discussing the general direction of travel and highlighting particular issues of concern for Irish stakeholders in the context of an agreement and then implementation.

Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, will open the event, which will include senior policy makers from the OECD, the European Commission and key Irish and US stakeholders, along with representatives from different jurisdictions.

Commenting on the seminar, Minister Donohoe noted;

‘I am looking forward to discussing how we can progress international cooperation on tax and hearing different perspectives from around the world on how we can build an agreement that reflects the digital age’.

The International Taxation seminar will be webcast live from 14:00 on Wednesday 21st April.
