More than one in four workers are concerned that artificial intelligence (AI) could lead to job losses, according to a new survey conducted by Acas, the conciliation service.
The poll of over 1,000 workers revealed that 27% fear AI advancements may result in redundancies within their industries. Additionally, nearly one in five expressed concerns about AI making critical errors, while 15% said they were worried about the lack of clear regulation governing the technology.
Acas Chief Executive Susan Clews said the findings highlight the need for businesses to engage openly with staff about how AI will be introduced and managed. “Our survey shows there are real anxieties around AI in the workplace. Employers should work closely with employees to ensure transparency, consultation, and appropriate training when implementing new technologies," she said.
The results come as AI adoption accelerates across sectors, from finance and healthcare to construction and logistics, raising urgent questions about the future of work, ethical oversight, and employee protection.

It’s understandable that many workers feel uneasy about AI’s impact. I think it’s crucial for businesses to focus on reskilling and upskilling initiatives to help their teams adapt rather than fear the change.
